Friday night hubs and I had a date night downtown. For his birthday I got us tickets to a play at our performing arts center and Friday was the big night. It was fun. It was not our average date night, it was a red lipstick – high heel date night.
The play was interesting. We both had mixed feedback on it. My high points with the play were:
- It is based on a book I read years ago and love.
- The main character of the book is an autistic teen (that is awesome in and of itself), what is great is that the play takes you inside his experience of what it feels like when his system gets overwhelmed.
Point two was my true favorite part. I was completely overwhelmed by stimulus multiple times during the play and was close to pulling my in-case-of-loud-noises ear plugs out of my wallet more than once.
Hubby’s high points were the math (there was lots of math in this play which is why I thought he might like it) and the technology. We have never seen a play like this one in terms of the technology used, it was cool.
We had a great time. After the play we went out for a late dinner at one of the swanky steak houses downtown – that was our least favorite part of the night. From the decor to the food it was just over the top.
All in all it was a wonderful night. Always fun to have a reason to get dressed up and spend time together.
